ABOUT lindsay

of all the DREAMS, both BIG and SMALL, these are by far my FAVORITE

Hey y’all, I’m Lindsay.

HOMEMAKER BY DAY | NOVELIST BY NIGHT

I’m a homeschooling mom of three and wife to my college sweetheart, who spends my days feeding chickens and cuddling kittens, teaching the big kids to read while wrestling a toddler, and pursuing passion projects in the nooks and crannies. Like baking sourdough, adding English countryside character to our old house, trying and failing and trying again in our little garden, crocheting sweaters that might take six months, but sure are pretty, and dreaming up bigger-than-life stories.

Motherhood is my favorite. These little people fill each day with tiny miracles. But creativity has saved me. Sustained me through newborn seasons and sleepless nights, through financial stress and health struggles.

I spent my first few years of motherhood feeling torn between my dreams and my children. Then, I realized that my dreams and this insatiable pull I have to story, are for my children. They’ve influenced our days, our home, our homeschool and I hope, along the way, have filled their childhood with magic. And maybe one day, it’ll teach them to dream big, impossible dreams too.

I’ll never forget the day my husband said, “I have an idea. But I think you should sit down…”

We were newlyweds with just a few pennies, a mountain of student debt, and million-dollar-sized dreams. Not a mansion on the water kind of dream, though I wouldn’t turn down a glass of prosecco with the sand between my toes. No, the “I want to live an extraordinary life” kind. The kind where I could quit my teaching job, write magical stories, and teach our future children. Where we could start a business building houses together and build in flexibility for long travel. Where we had options. Where we could feel God’s call and just… jump. But that mountain of debt, which I was continually adding to as a creative writing graduate student and not remotely chipping away at with my part-time salary, had us in chains. Until, my brilliant, entrepreneur husband had an idea.

We were living in a frat house at the time. How do we know? You mean other than the fraternity’s name spray-painted on the walls?

Our friends came back for homecoming and told us what each room had been named. Yep, proud, first-time homeowners. But we had taken that frat house bought in foreclosure and turned it into the stuff of our dreams. We’d You Tubed, studied design, and started a blog along the way. And said husband (the brilliant entrepreneur), realized we’d built a little equity along the way. Now, we’d planned this house for the long-term. Raise a family, cuddle with grandkids, long-term. But one Sunday after church, my husband sat me down and cast a vision. What if we sold said family house? Made a profit. Chunked that onto debt. Then, did it again. It took me a few hours of walking around that house picturing three blond-headed children (we didn’t yet have) playing and growing up inside its carefully-crafted walls of comfort and belonging to know he was right.

We had dreams that selling that house might just make possible.

And so, an adventure was born. We sold that house, chunked off a little debt. Renovated another. Lived there a few years. Sold it. Did it again. And again. And again. Until seven houses and years of sweat equity finally erased that mountain of debt. My husband started his building business. We kept having babies and started homeschooling. We landed somewhere we hope to put down roots. And I started writing…

Meet The FAM

Of all the dreams - both big and small - these are by far my favorite.

As much as I live for big dreams, my perfect day is at home with these four. Caring for the animals. Time in the garden with squeals and laughter echoing off our woods. Cooking a great meal together. Then, popcorn and a movie.

Brilliant Entrepreneur Husband

I might keep us in poetry and magic, but this practical one keeps us fed. And laughing… if he’s around, you’re always laughing.

The Babes

The wild mama’s boy who dreams of being a bagpiper and builder, who surfs and does pottery on the weekends. The creative, responsible first born who dreams of going to cooking school, then running a bookshop and cafe with mama. And the baby - who has everyone in the house wrapped around her finger… and she knows it.

ON INSTAGRAM, I talk about all the things: living with rhythm, homeschooling and homesteading, favorite books, and sharing our passion projects in real time. Come join the fun!
